At Day we have been busy preparing for the transition of your children to our middle school community. On the Tuesday before vacation, your children visited Day for a concert featuring our 7th and 8th grade band, jazz band, orchestra and chorus as a preview of our performing arts program at Day. Hopefully they are excited to participate in our vibrant program next year. More information on how to sign up will be shared in the weeks ahead!
The evening will offer you an overview of the structures and teaming of the middle school, curriculum, student support and extracurricular activities. Our fabulous PTO Board will also be on hand to answer questions and share information about how to become involved in the Day Community. For those who cannot attend, I will put together a narrated slide deck and send it out by the end of the month.
This evening is for parents and caregivers only. I will be visiting each of the 5th grade classrooms in May to offer students a personalized orientation and opportunity to ask questions about middle school. Several 6th grade students will accompany me on these visits and will share their experience making the transition to middle school.
Note: Parking is limited at the building, 21 Minot Place. Plan ahead to arrive early. Additional parking is available on Walnut Street, at the Educational Center, (100 Walnut Street) and on Albemarle Road.
